A useful classification of sports is presented in the graphic above, taken from the Proceedings of the 36th Bethesda Conference on Eligibility Recommendations for Competitive Athletes with Cardiovascular Abnormalities. Sports are categorized by their increasing static component along the y-axis and by their increasing dynamic component along the x-axis. With this classification, sports can be categorized from I to III and also from A to C. Recommendations from the Proceedings about safe participation in sports with various heart conditions refer to this table.
